Installation Instructions
Proper installation of the Rated Recovery Points is crucial for your safety and the safety of others. The product comes with vehicle-specific fitment instructions to guide you through the installation process. These should be followed carefully to ensure that the recovery points are at their optimum Working Load Limit (WLL).
Important: Always install as a matched pair with an equalizing bridle. Incorrect use, such as using a single point with a side load/pull, may damage the recovery points and void your warranty.
Installation Tips
-
Professional Fitting Recommended: For best results, it is advised to have the recovery points fitted by a qualified mechanic with specialist 4WD knowledge. This ensures the points are fitted correctly for your vehicle’s unique setup (e.g., weight distribution, style of Bull Bar, usage).
-
Chassis Compatibility: These recovery points have been designed for vehicles without bull bars. If a bull bar is already fitted, modifications may be necessary, including adjustments to the bull bar bracket and additional hardware (e.g., longer bolts).
Bull Bar Compatibility
If your Navara D22 is fitted with a bull bar, there may be a conflict with the mounting bolts/brackets used for the recovery points. While we maintain a list of compatible bull bars, there may be instances where the installation is not possible without major modifications. For more information, you can check the compatibility list.
In situations where a bull bar interferes with fitment, additional bolts may be required, which can be purchased separately. We recommend using grade 8.8 or higher bolts and tightening them to the appropriate torque specifications.
Performance and Use
-
Straight-Line Pulls: Rated Recovery Points are designed for straight-line pulls and some off-centerline pulls (up to 30 degrees).
-
Not for Lifting: These recovery points are not tested or intended for lifting purposes. The forces required for lifting are different from those needed for a recovery pull, and using the points for lifting could compromise their integrity.
Important Notes
-
Warranty: The warranty covers defects in the Rated Recovery Points, but improper selection, installation, or use outside of the intended recovery methods will void the warranty.
-
Chassis Suitability: Ensure that your vehicle’s chassis is adequately rated and constructed to handle the forces applied during recovery operations. The recovery points themselves are tested for strength, but the chassis must be capable of withstanding the forces involved.
