  • Roadsafe Bow Shackle 3250kg
    4x4 Accessories

    Roadsafe Bow Shackle 3250kg – Black/Yellow (SB612)

    Size 16x19mm Bow Shackle 3250kg – Black/Yellow

Shackles are an essential recovery item, and you can never have too many of them. They are most commonly used to attach recovery straps, tree trunk protectors, winch extension straps & snatch blocks. The larger 4.7-tonne shackles are best suited to electric winch recovery situations. The most commonly used shackle is the “Bow” because its shape allows for bulky items to be easily attached. Shackles should only be used on vehicles fitted with rated points featuring closed eyelets. TIP: To avoid seizing the screw pin, it’s always a good idea to back off about 1/2 to 1 turn after fully hand tightening. Shackle pins can seize due to the force exerted during recovery operations.

Before use: Inspect shackles before and after use for any damage. If pins are hard to turn or the shackle has been overstressed, it should be immediately replaced.

    Snatch Strap 9M 100mm 11000kg – White/Black

Roadsafe 4WDs recovery straps come in a range of high visibility safety colours. Different strap types are instantly recognisable and come with warning tags that include information such as strap type, rated capacity, material type and precautions. A Recovery Strap is heavy-duty nylon or polyester strap used in vehicle recovery situations that can stretch under load & spring back to its original length. The combination of the recovery vehicle pull and the tension in the strap creates a ‘snatching’ effect that can pull a vehicle free from being bogged.

When used by the following guidelines, vehicles may be recovered with minimal damage to vehicles and equipment and, most importantly, minimal risk of injury to people. People intending to use recovery straps should consider completing a nationally recognised four-wheel drive training course or contact a four-wheel-drive club for comprehensive advice on the proper selection and use of the strap. Key Information and Safety Recommendations Check the strap and its packaging for a stated Minimum Breaking Strength (MBS). It is recommended that the strap’s Minimum Breaking Strength (MBS) be between two and three times the vehicle’s gross mass (GVM), and the strap be suited to the GVM of the lighter of the two vehicles used in the recovery process. The strap must not be used for lifting or conventional towing. Persons intending to use the strap must ensure that the strap is not damaged and is in a usable condition. The strap’s strength and stretch are reduced when the strap is saturated (by up to 20%) An object such as a recovery damper, heavy bag or blanket must be draped over the strap during use to reduce any unintentional rebound of the strap. While the strap is being used, people outside the motor vehicles who are involved in the recovery process must: Stay a safe distance from the motor vehicles, recommended as at least 1.5 times the length of the unstretched strap away from the vehicles Never place themselves in the path of the vehicle performing the recovery

WARNING – Always follow product instructions. It is important to correctly attach the motor vehicle recovery strap to a motor vehicle. A standard tow ball or vehicle tie-down point is not designed for this purpose and may result in the strap or a vehicle component detaching from a motor vehicle and striking and seriously injuring or killing a person. Only attach the strap to a vehicle recovery point or device that is suitably rated for use with the strap. Incorrect use has previously resulted in serious injury and death.

IMPORTANT  Personal safety and the protection of property are paramount when considering 4WD recovery. Never exceed the Minimum Breaking Strength (MBS) of the strap or the Working Load Limit (WLL) of the shackles, recovery points or any other hardware used in the recovery. Only use equipment that is properly rated and in serviceable condition for the situation. If in doubt, do not use it. Never attempt to recover a vehicle without all the necessary equipment. Ensure that only the people required for the recovery are present. All spectators should be kept at a safe distance. Ensure there are good communications maintained between participants and bystanders. This is best achieved by the use of UHF radio. Selecting the right recovery strap  It is very important to ensure you use a strap that is correctly rated for the recovery you are undertaking. A strap with a breaking strength that is too light for the recovery might snap under load. A strap with a breaking strength that is too heavy for the recovery might not stretch properly, placing stresses on the recovery points and possibly leading to damage or injury. The strap’s Minimum Breaking Strength (MBS) should be between two and three times the Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of the lightest vehicle used in the recovery process. Please be aware that the Recovery Strap will be under greater load if the vehicle is bogged in mud, sand or heavily loaded. If the GVM is not stated on the vehicle’s identification plate or registration certificate, it may be available from the owner’s handbook or vehicle manufacturer. Note – due to the nature of synthetic fibres, recovery straps do require ‘rest periods’ between use to cool down and return to their original length and capacity. Be aware that excessive pulls on a recovery strap over a short period can cause heat build-up and lead to possible failure.

    Rated Recovery Tow Points

Roadsafe Rated Recovery Tow Points VW Amarok (RPAMA01)

ALWAYS DEMAND GENUINE ROADSAFE RATED RECOVERY TOW POINTS!

    This kit fits:

    • VW Amarok 2009-2017
      • Not Suited for V6 Models

Roadsafe Rated Recovery Tow Points are FEA Tested during design and Destruction tested during development to establish Working Load Limits. Rated Recovery Points have been designed as matched pairs, supplied in LH/RH for vehicle specific fitment. Your purchase will include high tensile bolts and any additional vehicle specific mounting hardware required to ensure secure fitment to vehicles. Correct fitment of these components is critical for your and others personal safety. Each pair of Rated Recovery Points is supplied with vehicle specific fitment instructions. These instructions should be followed during fitment to ensure all steps are taken for correct installation, so when required, the points will be at their optimum Working Load Limit (WLL) as stamped. Rated Recovery Points fitting instructions can be found here.

Always use Rated Recovery Points as a matched pair with an equalising bridle. Failure to use Rated Recovery Points correctly can result in Rated Recovery Points fatigue and bending and voiding your warranty. Never use a single point combined with a side load/pull. The Rated Recovery Points are easy to install. It is recommended that Rated Recovery Points are fitted by a qualified mechanic with specialist 4WD knowledge who understands your vehicle, including weights carried, the style of Bull Bar, general usage, etc. In some circumstances, these Rated Recovery Points may not be suitable for your vehicle. Incorrect selection or incorrect installation is not covered by warranty.

Rated Recovery Points have been designed on vehicles without Bull Bars. In some circumstances, the bull bar mounting bolts/brackets may utilise the same chassis holes that are utilised for Rated Recovery Point fitment. Most of the time, there is a fix around this – however, in some instances where Bull Bars have been fitted, it precludes the opportunity to fit the Rated Recovery Points without major modifications. Where possible, we maintain a list of Bull Bar fitments which can be found here. Additionally, if a bull bar is fitted, modifications might be required to the bar bracket, and additional hardware might be required (longer bolts etc.) To facilitate fitment. As there are so many combinations and potential bar model combinations, we are unable to include every potential bolt required in the kit – this would make the kits ridiculously expensive. We have supplied the kits with the bolt options identified to suit the majority of applications. Unfortunately, if your vehicle/bar/Rated Recovery Point combination falls outside of those applications, you will have to purchase additional bolts (from a local bolt barn or similar) to suit your required application. We recommend grade 8.8 or higher and tightening to appropriate bolt torque specs. It is the Rated Recovery Points themselves as supplied that have been tested to the WLL advised. It is at the vehicle owner’s discretion for fitment, ensuring that the chassis is adequately designed, constructed and rated to suit this application. These Rated Recovery Points have been designed and tested for straight-line pulls and in some cases, a 30 degree off centreline pull. The Rated Recovery Points have not been tested for lifting purposes and should not be used for lifting. The forces applied to differ between lifting and straight-line pull-type recoveries.
